1米黎盎和亞郎為了梅瑟所娶的雇士女人出言反對梅瑟，因為他娶了個雇士女人， 1And Mary and Aaron spoke against Moses, because of his wife the Ethiopian,
2於是說：「上主豈只與梅瑟交談，不是也與我們交談過！」上主聽見了這話。 2And they said: Hath the Lord spoken by Moses only? hath he not also spoken to us in like manner? And when the Lord heard this,
3梅瑟為人十分謙和，超過地上所有的人。 3(For Moses was a man exceeding meek above all men that dwelt upon earth)
4上主忽然向梅瑟、亞郎和米黎盎說：「你們三人到會幕那裡去。」他們三人就去了。 4Immediately he spoke to him, and to Aaron and Mary: Come out you three only to the tabernacle of the covenant. And when they were come out,
5上主乘雲柱降下，停在會幕門口，叫亞郎和米黎盎；他們兩人就走向前去， 5The Lord came down in a pillar of the cloud, and stood in the entry of the tabernacle calling to Aaron and Mary. And when they were come,
6上主說：「你們聽我說：若你們中有一位是先知，我要在神視中顯示給他，在夢中與他談話； 6He said to them: Hear my words: if there be among you a prophet of the Lord, I will appear to him in a vision, or I will speak to him in a dream.
7但對我的僕人梅瑟卻不是這樣，他在我全家中是最忠信可靠的。 7But it is not so with my servant Moses a who is most faithful in all my house:
8我面對面與他明明說話，不藉謎語，並讓他望見上主的形像。為什麼你們竟不怕出言反對我的僕人梅瑟？」 8For I speak to him mouth to mouth: and plainly, and not by riddles and figures doth he see the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak ill of my servant Moses?
9上主對他們發著怒走了。 9And being angry with them he went away:
10彩雲一離開會幕，看，米黎盎就生了癩病，像雪那樣白；亞郎轉身看見米黎盎生了癩病， 10The cloud also that was over the tabernacle departed: and behold Mary appeared white as snow with a leprosy. And when Aaron had looked on her, and saw her all covered with leprosy,
11遂對梅瑟說：「我主，懇求你，別使我們因一時愚昧所犯之罪而受罰！ 11He said to Moses: I beseech thee, my lord, lay not upon us this sin, which we have foolishly committed:
12求你別讓她像個胎死腹中的人，一出娘胎，肉身就已腐爛了一半。」 12Let her not be as one dead, and as an abortive that is cast forth from the mother's womb. Lo, now one half of her flesh is consumed with the leprosy.
13梅瑟遂向上主呼求說：「天主，我求你治好她罷！」 13And Moses cried to the Lord, saying: O God, I beseech thee heal her.
14上主對梅瑟說：「若她的父親在她面上吐唾沬，她豈不要七天忍此羞辱，七天把她隔離在營外，然後才讓她回來？」 14And the Lord answered him: If her father had spitten upon her face, ought she not to have been ashamed for seven days at least? Let her be separated seven days without the camp, and after wards she shall be called again.
15於是米黎盎七天之久，被隔離在營外；民眾也沒有起程，直到米黎盎回來。 15Mary therefore was put out of the camp seven days: and the people moved not from that place until Mary was called again.
16以後，民眾由哈茲洛特起程出發，在帕蘭曠野紮了營。 16
12:1
雇士地名有二：一在厄提约丕亚即今埃及之南；一在今之阿剌伯中部，米德杨人、阿玛肋克人、依市玛耳人皆居於此地。因此，此处所记的梅瑟的妻子，即是出2:21所记的米德杨人漆颇辣。
12:2-8
关於米黎盎，见出2:4-10; 15:20；户20:1；米6:4；她是个女先知；可是先知的恩惠大有区别：有平常的先知，天主以神视，以梦境训示他们；也有非常的先知，就如梅瑟，天主当面亲口与他讲话（出33:11,18-23），叫他看到自己的光荣。在梅瑟以後，天主还要派许多先知（申18:15-18），可是直到圣若翰洗者为止（玛11:9-11），梅瑟是诸先知中最大者（申34:10），因此天主称赞他说：「他在我全家中是最忠信可靠的」（希3:5）。
12:10-14
向脸上吐唾 ，是以色列人轻慢人最甚的表示。见申25:9；依50:6；玛26:67等处。关於癞病，见肋13; 14。
