2亞巴郎有許多牲畜和金銀。 2And he was very rich in possession of gold and silver.
3他由乃革布逐漸往貝特耳移動帳幕，到了先前他在貝特耳與哈依之間，支搭帳幕的地方， 3And he returned by the way that he came, from the south to Bethel, to the place where before he had pitched his tent between Bethel and Hai:
4亦即他先前築了祭壇，呼求上主之名的地方。 4In the place of the altar which he had made before; and there he called upon the name of the Lord.
5與亞巴郎同行的羅特，也有羊群、牛群和帳幕， 5But Lot also, who was with Abram, had flocks of sheep, and herds of beasts, and tents.
6那地方容不下他們住在一起，因為他們的產業太多，無法住在一起。 6Neither was the land able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, and they could not dwell together.
7牧放亞巴郎牲畜的人與牧放羅特牲畜的人，時常發生口角，──當時客納罕人和培黎齊人尚住在那裡。 7Whereupon also there arose a strife between the herdsmen of Abram and of Lot. And at that time the Chanaanite and the Pherezite dwelled in that country.
8亞巴郎遂對羅特說：「在我與你，我的牧人與你的牧人之間，請不要發生口角，因為我們是至親。 8Abram therefore said to Lot: Let there be no quarrel, I beseech thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen: for we are brethren.
9所有的地方不是都在你面前嗎？請你與我分開。你若往左，我就往右；你若往右，我就往左。」 9Behold the whole land is before thee: depart from me I pray thee: if thou wilt go to the left hand, I will take the right: if thou choose the right hand, I will pass to the left.
10羅特舉目看見約但河整個平原，直到左哈爾一帶全有水灌溉，──這是在上主消滅索多瑪和哈摩辣以前的事，──有如上主的樂園，有如埃及地。 10And Lot, lifting up his eyes, saw all the country about the Jordan, which was watered throughout, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, as the paradise of the Lord, and like Egypt as one comes to Segor.
11羅特選了約但河的整個平原，遂向東方遷移；這樣，他們就彼此分開了： 11And Lot chose to himself the country about the Jordan, and he departed from the east: and they were separated one brother from the other.
12亞巴郎住在客納罕地；羅特住在平原的城市中，漸漸移動帳幕，直到索多瑪。 12Abram dwelt in the land of Chanaan; and Lot abode in the towns that were about the Jordan, and dwelt in Sodom.
13索多瑪人在上主面前罪大惡極。 13And the men of Sodom were very wicked, and sinners before the face of the Lord, beyond measure.
14羅特與亞巴郎分離以後，上主對亞巴郎說：「請你舉起眼來，由你所在的地方，向東西南北觀看； 14And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him: Lift up thy eyes, and look from the place wherein thou now art, to the north and to the south, to the east and to the west.
15凡你看見的地方，我都要永遠賜給你和你的後裔。 15All the land which thou seest, I will give to thee, and to thy seed for ever.
16我要使你的後裔有如地上的灰塵；如果人能數清地上的灰塵，也能數清你的後裔。 16And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: if any man be able to number the dust of the earth, he shall be able to number thy seed also.
17你起來，縱橫走遍這地，因為我要將這地賜給你。」 17Arise and walk through the land in the length, and in the breadth thereof: for I will give it to thee.
18於是亞巴郎移動了帳幕，來到赫貝龍的瑪默勒橡樹區居住，在那裡給上主築了一座祭壇。 18So Abram removing his tent came and dwelt by the vale of Mambre, which is in Hebron: and he built there an altar to the Lord.
