The list of the returning exiles
1 These were the people of the province who returned from captivity and exile. After being deported to Baby lon by Ne buchadnezzar, king of Babylon, they returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his own town.

59 The following who came from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan and Immer, could not prove that their families and ancestry were of Israelite origin:

62 These people searched in their ancestral registers but could not be located in them, so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean
63 and His Excellency fo rbade them to eat the sacred foods until a priest could be found for the Urim and Thummim.
64 The whole assembly numbered forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty people,
65 not counting their slaves and maidservants to the number of seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven. They also had two hundred male and female singers.
66 Their horses numbered seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules two hundred and forty-five,
67 their camels four hun dred and thirty-five and their donkeys six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 When they arrived at the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem, some of the leaders of the clans made voluntary offerings for the Temple of God, for its rebuilding on its old site.
69 In accordance with their means they gave to the building fund sixty-one thousand darics of gold, five thousand minas of silver, and one hundred priestly robes.
70 The priests, Levites and part of the people settled in Jerusalem; the gate keepers, Temple musicians, workmen and all the other Israelites, in their own towns.
